going greenClimate Action Workshop

Join your fellow citizens to learn about Union City’s Climate Action Plan and proposed Green Building Ordinance and how it may impact you.

Saturday, April 4, 2009
10 am to 11:30 am
City Hall
34009 Alvarado-Niles Road

Climate change is an important environmental issue that affects us all. In January 2009, the City Council adopted a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% below 2005 levels by the year 2020. Union City government, residents and businesses will need to work together to reach this ambitious goal. The City is beginning work on a Climate Action Plan that will guide these future efforts. Come learn about this exciting process, provide input on what the Plan should address and find out more about how you can get involved.

Building green is an effective strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The City will be moving forward on adoption of a Green Building Ordinance that will require new and substantially remodeled buildings to be healthy as well as energy and resource efficient. Staff will be presenting an overview of the proposed Ordinance as well as providing easy tips on how to make your home healthier, sustainable and more energy efficient.

For more information on the upcoming meeting, please call the Planning Division at (510) 675-5319.
