As use of the Union City BART station has grown, the demand for parking has increased. Recently, BART began charging customers to park at station parking lots. As a result, commuter parking has overflowed into Union City residential and retail areas adjacent to the BART. To meet the increased need for parking, the City of Union City has:
- Created Two New Parking Lots
- Introduced Parking Payment Machines and Quarterly Parking Permits
- Created a Parking Enforcement Unit
These additional services will hopefully provide sufficient parking for BART commuters and help ensure that low-cost short-term parking is available for residents, nearby businesses and apartments.
