Finelite in Union City employs a staff of 170 and manufactures high-performance lighting fixtures. Since they first started working with the StopWaste Partnership in 2005, Finelite has reduced waste by 84%, saving the company over $27,000 annually. Finelite recycles paper, cardboard, metal, wood and other materials, and reuse incoming packaging materials or return it to their vendors for reuse. Working with one of their supplier, Finelite custom-created reusable tarps, designed to protect lighting components during transit and preventing 3 tons/yr of shrink-wrap. Company management actively involves employees in the waste reduction efforts, and keeps them motivated with company-dinners, parties and other perks funded with revenue from recycled materials.
