Citizens Aiding Residents & Elderly

C.A.R.E. Program

The Union City CARE program provides monthly in-home visits to elderly and dependant adults who are unable to leave their homes or that may not have any visiting friends or relatives. CARE volunteers assist clients with making referrals to community resources, namely Meals on Wheels and ParaTransit or specific resources that the client may need or request. When necessary, volunteers contact the client’s family members, friends or neighbors to advocate for the clients needs that may be beyond the skills, training or time of the CARE volunteer.

CARE volunteers are people of all ages, diverse cultures with a variety of professional backgrounds. The one thing they have in common is the passion for helping others and wanting to brighten someone’s day. CARE volunteers are trained to assess and report elder/dependant abuse or neglect. They are not clinical social workers or case managers.
