Local Streets and Roads Program

Measure B Local Streets and Roads funds are used to help pay for several types of street and roadway projects in order to maintain and improve upon the existing transportation infrastructure in Union City.

The projects funded with the FY 10/11 Measure B funds included:

  • Replacement of faded street signs.
  • Clean Water Program.
  • Pavement Maintenance and Slurry Seal Program to rehabilitate various City streets.
  • Pavement overlay of various streets.
  • Dyer Street Pavement Rehabilitation.
  • Installation of wheelchair ramps meeting current ADA standards at various locations.
  • Traffic signal maintenance and upgrade to keep them functional.
  • Replacement of damaged traffic signal loops at various locations.
  • Conduct speed surveys at various locations throughout the City to help manage traffic flow operations including the implementation of traffic calming measures.
  • Consultant design fees for seismic retrofit of BART overhead bridge on Whipple Road and Alameda Creek Bridge on Decoto Road.
  • Consultant design fees to improve Alvarado Blvd. /Union City Blvd. Intersection.
